Canadian Artist Created "Drawn Film" During Visit to First Nation Residential School

Canadian artist John Howard Gould's (1929-2010) "Drawn Film" was made for the National Film Board (NFB) using his drawings made during visits to the Pikangikum First Nation residential school.

His black and white drawings mixed with the narrative show the fear, isolation, inferiority, darkness, sadness, and anger which were the result over the removal and assimilation of Indigenous children into the education system of the dominant culture.
