Born in Hamilton, ON, he received his art training at Central Collegiate Institute and the Hamilton Technical Institute where he was a  special student in drawing, painting and design under Hortense M. Gordon, and John Sloan. He worked as an industrial designer for Chadwich-Carrol Brass and Fixtures Ltd.  In his own art he was best known for his scenes of downtown Hamilton. He became one of the original members of the Contemporary Artists of Hamilton. He moved to Toronto, then in 1959 to San Francisco. He returned to Hamilton a number of times over the years and took photographs as reference for his future paintings  of his native city. he won awards for water colours exhibited at the RCA, OSA and CSPWC exhibitions. His represented in NGC, Ottawa; Art gallery of Hamilton; McMaster University, Hamilton' Department of external affairs and many other Collections.
