About
A well-known Canadian painter, draftsman and educator, Lawrence Nickle was born in Toronto, Ontario and died in Burk's Falls (or environs), Ontario where he had lived since the 1970s. Through the years he has lived, worked and taught (privately, night classes and workshops) in several Ontario communities including Kenora, Dryden, Wawa, South Porcupine and Huntsville; and early on he did some commercial work in Toronto and Montreal. His best known subjects were rural and wilderness landscapes of Ontario, especially around Lake Superior and Lake Huron (Wawa, Coldwater River, Magnetawan River, Algonquin Park, Muskoka and Georgian Bay).
