Paula studied glass at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Ontario, Canada. She accomplished a BFA(Hons) glass at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. She has shown her worked with a diverse group of internationally established artists which has allowed her to diversify and develop as a sculptural glass artist.
At present Paula has been an adjunct faculty member for 8 years at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. She instructs sandcasting, kilnforming, and material exploration in the Glass Department within the Crafts and Design Program.
Paula explores the technical process of sculptural sand casting, hot sculptural and blown glass, and the kiln casting process. She utilizes found objects as part of her creative process to create tactile sculptures which incorporate variations of surface textures to engage the viewer in a contemplative manner.
As personal artefacts, the iconography found within her work is constantly readjusting themselves on an emotional spectrum that is stimulated by the past, which is intrinsically familiar to the viewer. These complexities are carefully considered and meticulously constructed and are a testament to her technical and theoretical capabilities.
