"Journey Back" Exhibit- Released March 2022

I was introduced to a poem by my partner Rose that Charlie Chaplin read at his 70th birthday, along with a photograph of him at age 26. I was so moved by the poem and the look in his eyes that I was inspired to paint him.

The title of the poem is “As I began to love myself” by Kim McMillen

One of the verses goes as follows:
“As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know this is authenticity.”

The poem is pinned to my studio wall as a reminder that “ Self-love, and self-acceptance, really is the most important love story of all.”
