About

A Hamilton artist, who later settled in Burlington, was daughter of artist Julien Seavey. Her sister Theo was a painter but shifted her interest from painting to choral work and was a soloist for the Anglican Christ's Church Cathedral and directed boys and girls choirs. Marjorie worked in oils and watercolours and she also taught at Bennetto Public school and at Hillfield Boys' School and was an art instructor for more than 25 years at the Hamilton Normal/teachers College. She began at classes for children for the City of Hamilton at the AGH and also developed the art curriculum for public schools. She continued teaching for a number of years after her retirement and was a member of the Women's Art Association of Hamilton. An exhibition of the Seavey sisters art was held at Christ's Church Anglican Cathedral in late November of 1975. Marjorie died either in Burlington or Hamilton at the age of 98. Was survived by  her niece Suzanne Craven and other family members. Her sister Theo died in 1988.
